The Tailor-Made Photonics division caters to industries that need custom fiber optic solutions. Markets: This includes telecommunications and data communications (for custom fiber cable assemblies in data centers and core networks), industrial automation and sensors (fiber solutions for machine vision, robotics, and sensing in factories), medical and life sciences (custom fiber bundles for imaging or light delivery in instruments), defense and aerospace (rugged fiber links for avionics, unmanned systems, or secure communications), and research laboratories (one-off fiber setups for experimental physics, for example). Applications: WEINERT’s tailor-made photonic products are found in an array of uses:
Optical Metrology & Sensing
Our fiber assemblies and photonic subsystems are used in metrology equipment, spectroscopy devices, and environmental sensors. For example, a fiber bundle we supply might channel light in an automotive emission testing system, or a custom cable might connect sensors in an oil & gas pipeline monitoring setup.
High-Power Laser Delivery
We design fiber optic beam delivery systems for industrial lasers (cutting, welding) and medical lasers. These require specialized fibers and connectors that can handle high energies – a niche where our expertise in both fiber design and connector engineering is crucial.
Data Networking
While standard cables exist, many data centers and telecom providers come to WEINERT for specialty networking needs- such as a hybrid cable that powers remote radio units on a cell tower (combining fiber and copper )or a low-loss fiber assembly for a long-haul network link.
Transportation
Our custom cables are used in automotive and rail industries, for instance in on-board communication systems of trains or advanced driver-assistance systems in cars. These often need fibers that withstand vibration and temperature extremes, which we provide through tailored designs.
